Why is Leaflet the better choice

Using a database publishing tool such as Leaflet often seeks three specific goals for a publication cycle.

It should be:

  1. faster
  2. cheaper
  3. error free

What follows explains in a few words what makes Leaflet a superior product that best meets your needs. It also explains why Leaflet works 5X faster with 5X fewer templates than other more conventional ways of working.

Native connection to databases

Leaflet uses an ODBC connection (Open Database Connectivity) optimized to any database, regardless of the brand or structure.
Projects have already been completed with the following data sources: Excel, Access, SQL Server, Oracle, Progress, MySQL, PostgreSQL, IBM DB2, SQLite, Sybase, Caché etc…
Leaflet adapts to the structure of your own database. Thus a total integration with your other applications is easy.

This connection is in real time and requires no import / export of the data contained in the database.

Processing time gains are real.

Dynamic templates

The layout engine of Leaflet allows to define dynamic templates, ie the shape and content dynamically adapts themselves to the data received by the template. The shape, size, movement and the appearance of each object of the template may be controlled by activating their dynamic properties.
Through visibilities triggered by database values or calculated fields, alternative scenarios can be included in a template to extend its scope.

Although the layout varies enormously from one page to another, dynamic templates strictly follow the graphic charter and increase the attractiveness of the publication.

With dynamic templates, there is a drastic reduction in the number of manual interventions to treat exceptions. This increases productivity and avoids unnecessary  use of Indesign.

In the end there are less templates to maintain (depending on the document type about 5 times less) and more flexibility in the  (semi-) automatic layout.

Dynamic templates can automatically split tables and text to the next column or page. Page filling is then optimal. Less white spaces also means less pages.

An integrated approach

On the one hand Leaflet does not depend on a database brand or specific structure. No need for intermediate structure or data import / export. Access to data is in real time.

On the other hand Leaflet uses its own layout  engine. No need for Indesign or Quark to produce your documents. Generated pages can be exported easily to the most appropriate media with a better rendering. Leaflet indeed supports specificities of  both traditional and interactive media.

Single source publishing

Leaflet exports its pages to 9 different formats from a single database using a common template.
With the notion of context,  features specific to a kind of media are integrated directly into the template.

High speed

Everything in Leaflet is conceived to increase the speed of layout. In automatic mode, it is not uncommon to experience speeds 5 to 10 times higher than conventional DTP solutions.

Built to withstand high volumes

Leaflet is capable of handling large volumes of several hundred pages in one run.

It does not slow down when the number of pages increases and is reasonable in the use of computer resources. Many other applications can be open simultaneously while running on a standard modern PC.

An implementation within the reach of all

A Leaflet document  is designed mainly with “the mouse”. The templates are designed in Leaflet using graphical objects and the layout is WYSIWYG. You just need to know where the data is to be found in the database.

The users can enjoy a wide autonomy from the IT department.
